What Happens in Vegas… Becomes a Great Anniversary Memory!

Y’all, we did it. We snuck off without the kids for our 14th wedding anniversary, and let me just say—Vegas was the perfect mix of adventure, laughter, and lessons learned (some the hard way 😅). It was just Benton and me, and we soaked up every minute of grown-up time in the desert lights of Las Vegas.

We stayed at the beautiful ARIA Resort & Casino, which was sleek, modern, and in a prime spot to explore. We started our trip off strong (and my arms were a little sore the next day) with kayaking on the Colorado River with River Dawgz. Paddling out to Emerald Cove was one of the coolest things we’ve ever done—gorgeous emerald-green water, canyon walls towering above us, and the peace of being on the river together. 10/10 recommend for couples who want a bit of adventure on their Vegas trip! This company was amazing and we had the BEST guide. Pro tip: bring a wet bag!!

One of the biggest highlights? Seeing Kenny Chesney perform at the Sphere!

The concert itself was amazing—his voice, the energy, the VIEWS! That said… friendly PSA: if you’re sitting in the 100s section, make sure you’re in rows 1-19. We were a bit too far back and didn’t get the full effect of the dome’s epic screen and ceiling. Lesson learned for next time! If you know me, Kenny is my FAVORITE & I absolutely LOVED this experience as well as his personal 2 story set up No Shoes Nation put on inside the Venetian!

Speaking of lessons… let’s talk about Benton’s big surprise tour booking. He thought he’d scored us a cool day trip to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, and bless his heart, I didn’t ask too many questions. We quickly learned this was a massive charter bus tour—we’re talking 50+ people, 5 hours each way, sack lunches, and hot bottled water. 🥵

Now don’t get me wrong—Lower Antelope Canyon was truly breathtaking. The colors, the curves, the way the light dances inside the canyon—it was pure magic. And Horseshoe Bend was every bit as beautiful as the pictures. But looking back, we both agree… we’d skip the long tour next time and spend those 10 hours exploring more of Vegas or catching another show. (Note to self: Morgan needs to double-check Benton’s bookings from now on 😂). If you’re looking at this area, we’d book a rental car and plan on driving and staying in different locations to break up the long rides! Also, these canyon tours are all required to be led & guided by guides from the reservation and they are group tours! Videos of the canyon are strictly prohibited as they have copyright laws related to it.

We also did what any couple in Vegas has to do—restaurant hop, wander through endless hotel lobbies and shops, and of course, eat In-N-Out Burger, which was surprisingly the cheapest meal of the trip! We walked everywhere, and let me tell you—comfy shoes are a MUST. Nothing in Vegas is as close as it looks on the map. We definitely got our steps in.

Vegas isn’t just a party town—it’s a place full of surprises, unique experiences, and lots of opportunities to connect as a couple. Whether you’re kayaking a river, singing along with Kenny, or just people-watching on the strip, it’s a trip worth taking (maybe without the sack lunch tour).

If you’re thinking of planning your own adult-only escape—anniversary, birthday, or just because—let me help you make it special. From luxury resorts to bucket list adventures (and yes, skipping the charter bus tours), I’ve got you covered.
